Lindelof green light, Griezmann offer, Fonte wants out
Victor Lindelof’s £38 million ($64m) transfer to Manchester United has finally been given the green light, according to Swedish outlet Expressen.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly been pursuing the 22-year-old Benfica centre-back as a long-term solution to strengthen his side’s defensive depth.
Lindelof reportedly played his last game for the club, and was pictured signing a Manchester United jersey, which added to speculation over a move.
But then the deal hit a brick wall.
There was a disagreement between the Portuguese club and Lindelof’s former Swedish club, Vasteras, over the sell-on fee for the player.
Vasteras reportedly wanted 20 per cent but Benfica was trying to lower that percentage.
Now Expressen has reported the two clubs have reached an agreement, so Lindelof can complete a move to Old Trafford.
However, according to The Sun, the deal for Lindelof is not confirmed and now Mourinho has offered Roma £32.5 million for Greek defender Kostas Manolas in case the Lindelof move falls through.
The Portuguese manager reportedly started looking at the 25-year-old last May, but the Italian club have been reluctant to sell him.
That could force United to make a higher offer if they want to capture his signature.
